Library Mid Year Recess Hours June 23, 2009

The AIC & CHIC will close this Friday 26th June 2009  at midnight.  Then daily 8am to midnight  until Semester 2 starts 26 July 2009.

Current Suggestions….. April 20, 2009

The Information Commons are designed for group work .  Expect people to be talking.  It does not excuse loud conversations on mobile phones.  But if you need a quiet space you will need to move to another floor.

Other random suggestions:

24 hr Macdonalds

Hammocks

Change machine- not going to happen

Less noisy vending machines

Ban mobile phones – if only!

Easter Hours March 23, 2009

All Libraries are closed Good Friday 10 April,  Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 April 2009.

Monday 13 & Tuesday 14 April Auchmuty & Huxley open 9am-5pm only, City closed, Ourimbah 10am-3pm.

AIC, CHIC and OIC closed Thursday 9 April  from 10pm reopen Monday13 April at 8am returning to 24/7

After Hour Access to Information Commons February 24, 2009

Night Owl Hours 24/7 during semesters
Services available include:
PC & Macs; Print/Copy facilities;
Rover IT support;
Access to Ready Reference Collection;
Book returns; Borrowing using Self-check loan unit.

Encoding your Studentcard
After 10pm the AIC & CHIC are swipe-card access only. To have your studentcard encoded take your card to the Information Desk in the AIC or CHIC. See Library staff about after hour access to Nyte Byte the Ourimbah Information Common.

Rover IT Support
Trained AIC support staff will move around the Information Common providing IT assistance and general information about Library Services.

City Hub & Information Common goes 24/7 February 17, 2008

From 18th February 2008, the City Hub & Information Common (CHIC) will be open 24 hours 7 days a week during semesters.  After hours access is by swipe card.  You will need to get your student cards encoded for swipe access at the CHIC.

With the Auchmuty Information Commons (AIC) and CHIC, students now have now two 24×7 information commons available.

You may have already heard about the “Student Hubs” where student support and administrative services are concentrated into one-stop shops. But did you know that the City Hub in the City Precinct is also an Information Common that you can use to access computers, scanners, printers, and the wireless network using your own laptop.

You will find CHIC on the ground floor, within University House, Cnr. Auckland and King Streets, Newcastle.

Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 10:00pm Weekends 9:00 am – 5:00pm
