Information Commons at UON Blog

Responses to your suggestions and feedback about the AIC, CHIC & Nyte Byte

A few updates on requests September 24, 2009

Filed under: computer access, suggestions — uonlibnews @ 2:07 am

Just to catch up on some recent requests.

No we have no fax – try NUSA or U PRINT or Post Office.

Staplers – I love this debate – we do supply up to a point – you can buy them really cheaply

The issue about people who use computers for private use -  is that it is very hard to police

- it could be Uni related work as many sites use Facebook.

No one wants to live in a police state.

Current Suggestions….. April 20, 2009

Filed under: Nyte Byte, chic, food/drink, mobile phones, random, suggestions — uonlibnews @ 3:27 am

The Information Commons are designed for group work .  Expect people to be talking.  It does not excuse loud conversations on mobile phones.  But if you need a quiet space you will need to move to another floor.

Other random suggestions:

24 hr Macdonalds

Hammocks

Change machine- not going to happen

Less noisy vending machines

Ban mobile phones – if only!

Never Enough Computers March 24, 2009

Filed under: computer access, suggestions — uonlibnews @ 1:01 am

Like spotting the first blowfly of the season it has been suggested that during busy times of the day students should consider others and not waste time on Facebook and You tube.  Oh how right you are!
We have been given extra $ to add more powerpoints on Levels 3 & 4 which may help.
But as to the age old question of good manners its needs a collective agreement on standards of behaviour.

AIC Pet Peeves April 2, 2008

Filed under: suggestions — uonlibnews @ 9:53 pm

Yes no one likes LOUD talkers or inconsiderate mobile phone users.  Complaints come in sometimes but not often – if you are having trouble studying after 10pm and there is nowhere else to go just ask the Rover if they can have a word with the students making the noise.

The AIC is s social space as well as a study space – we all have to remember to be considerate of each other.

On your wish list March 13, 2007

Filed under: suggestions — uonlibnews @ 1:27 am

Many varied and interesting things have been requested over the years in the AIC. Including microwaves, A3 printer, tea trolley service and hammocks. While space and funding issues prevent us in providing all your wishes we do keep your suggestions and when possible provide them.

Since opening we have extended opening hours to 24/7 during semesters and have gone wireless. We have also provided many more scanners and are testing an A3 printer and eftpos autoloader (stay tuned)
